With more than 20 years’ experience, Mr. Massina counsels clients on patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret protection and enforcement; intellectual property clearance evaluation; licensing of intellectual property rights; and patentability, validity and infringement issues.
Mr. Massina has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications involving such technology as: automotive applications, optics, material handling, website applications, control systems, fluid handling, power equipment, locks and medical devices.
Mr. Massina has authored articles relating to integration of IP strategy with a business plan, reasons to obtain opinions-of-counsel, avoiding inventorship issues, and post grant patent review procedures. He has led patent claim drafting workshops at the USPTO and presented on topics including trade secret protection, patent clearance strategy, patent damages, minimizing prosecution estoppel, and IP protection strategies.
Mr. Massina received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University and his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law where he served as a research editor for the Labor Law Journal. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
